For years, the family heard footsteps moving through the hallway after everyone had gone to bed.
The sounds were always strangely familiar—the same creak near the bathroom, the same pop farther down the hardwood floor, and the same slow steps toward the living room.
Eventually, they started calling whatever made them the Hallway Walker. Then a visiting family member heard the footsteps for herself. On another night, she watched a dark shape move across the wall as the footsteps crossed the room, followed by a framed photograph suddenly falling to the floor.
