Miles had never sleepwalked before, so his parents were startled when their six-year-old began appearing in their bedroom in the middle of the night. He seemed half asleep, remembered nothing the following morning, and otherwise behaved completely normally.
What he said during those episodes was harder to explain.
Miles began revealing private details from his parents’ childhoods—memories they had never shared with him and, in some cases, had barely spoken about with anyone. Whenever they asked how he knew, he mentioned someone he called “the dark man.”
His parents tried sleepwalking, overheard conversations, and coincidence as explanations.
