She was nine years old when she fell in love with an old-fashioned red-haired doll at a garage sale. Soon after bringing it home, her mother noticed something else: she had begun talking about an imaginary friend named Rose.
Then the doll started turning up where no one had left it.
After the family moved, relatives began hearing unexplained noises in the middle of the night, and the doll was twice found between two beds with its face and body cracked. When the doll was taken to another home, a young child there began screaming about a little girl standing at the top of the stairs.
Eventually, the family decided the doll had to go.
But even after they tried to destroy it, the strangest part of the story may have been what refused to break.
