A few weeks after moving into their new home, she discovered a small door hidden in the back of an upstairs closet.
Behind it was a cedar-lined storage space filled with dusty boxes of photographs, clothing, and personal belongings that had apparently been left there for years. Of course, they were curious.
But after they began looking through what they had found, a couple of strange things happened—things that made her wonder whether they should have opened those boxes at all.
Finally, she said out loud that they were done. They wouldn’t touch anything again. And they haven’t. Nearly three years later, the boxes are still behind that little door, exactly where they left them.
Sometimes, the best thing you can do with something you find is leave it alone.
