For more than twenty years, the family had occasionally caught glimpses of a misty female figure moving through the hallway of their nearly century-old home. They came to believe it was Helen, the woman who had lived there before them.
And for the most part, Helen seemed harmless. Things disappeared and later turned up exactly where they had already looked. Keys had a habit of returning only after someone asked for them out loud. Eventually, the family simply accepted that Helen liked to play.
Then the household began changing. The kids started moving out, boxes filled the rooms, and the normally familiar house was suddenly in chaos. That was when Helen seemed to have something more to say.
