After years of paranormal encounters in their youth, the narrator makes a conscious decision to close themselves off from the spiritual world, becoming a self-described “ghost-repellent.” Wherever they go, spiritual activity seems to vanish—until they find a charming house for rent that refuses to stay quiet.
On move-in day, the house immediately makes its presence known, calling the narrator’s name and opening the back door repeatedly. But when the narrator calmly sets boundaries with the spirit, the disturbances cease—except for one chilling moment when a baking pan flies across the kitchen. With no intention of investigating further, the narrator accepts the silent coexistence, believing that sometimes, the best way to handle a haunting is to acknowledge it without fear.
