Two young sisters shared a bedroom in a large old brick rental known locally as “the Beard House,” a place whispered about long before their family ever moved in. At night, long after the lights were out, something would wake one of them.
Standing in the middle of their room were three tall, hooded figures swaying in a slow circle, chanting over something unseen. The air felt cold. Heavy. Wrong.
And then the spiders would come.
Tiny black shapes would begin climbing the corner of the wall near the bed — multiplying rapidly — stopping just short of crossing onto it. The sisters were too terrified to move. Years later, they finally admitted they had both seen the same thing.
