Only later did she reveal the chilling reason behind her reaction.
As a young girl, she and her friend had used the same board. When they asked who they were speaking to, it responded: “I am neither. I am dead.” The board continued to spell out a full name, birth and death dates, and a chilling statement: “I was murdered.” The next day, the girls rode to the local graveyard and found the grave—exactly as the board described, behind the big oak tree.
Was it just a coincidence? A subconscious trick? Or proof that the board really is a conduit to something we don’t fully understand?
